What began 25 years ago in Denver, Colo. as "a pad of paper and a dream" is now a global real estate franchise network which spreads across 27 countries and seven territories on five continents. And now, after making industry history in 1997 as the first real estate network to log a million transactions in one year, the 52,000 RE/MAX sales associates in more than 3,000 offices worldwide are giving back more than ever.
The revolutionary concept upon which RE/MAX International was founded establishes an environment for real estate professionals to maximize their business potential. In exchange for paying a management fee and a share of the monthly office overhead, RE/MAX associates keep the maximum allowed amount of their commissions and receive the many benefits of RE/MAX programs and services. Hence, the term RE/MAX, which stands for "real estate maximums." This concept has attracted a quality team of professionals who lead the industry in production, experience, and professional designations.
But just being the best in the real estate industry isn't good enough for RE/MAX associates. They are also committed to making a difference in their communities. This commitment is demonstrated by what RE/MAX calls Premier Community Citizenship, and it's what makes RE/MAX associates such an integral part of the CMN Champions team.
"We have a proven blueprint for success," said RE/MAX founder, Dave Liniger. "One of the components of that blueprint is the involvement of associates within their communities. We know and understand that community involvement contributes to increased business for our associates," he said.
With community involvement at the very core of the RE/MAX way of doing business, the real estate giant set out to find a charitable partner. "When RE/MAX became the official real estate sponsor of CMN in 1992, we had two objectives," said RE/MAX Community Affairs Director, Carolynn Bond. "The first was to affiliate ourselves with an international charity distinguished for improving health care for children. The second was to make the world a better place for the people we serve," she said. RE/MAX associates have now raised more than $18 million through golf tournaments, fun runs, auctions, and the Miracle Home®® program.
THE MIRACLE HOME PROGRAM
This turn-key program offers individual associates an easy way to participate and enhance the image of their business in the community. Associates commit to a donation for each transaction made during the year. The donation, of course, goes directly to the CMN hospital in their market.
By using the CMN logo and the Miracle Home theme on property signs, in advertising and with other promotional materials, associates set their business apart from the competition. "The Miracle Home program gives me a point of differentiation that my competition can't copy," said RE/MAX associate Wes Stansbury of RE/MAX Greater Atlanta Affiliates. "I love the exclusive leverage that gives me in the marketplace. And I have the comfort knowing my contribution is staying locally to help kids I know."
Bond said the Miracle Home program is growing because RE/MAX associates are developing an appreciation for its potential. "I've noticed this year that people are asking deeper questions about their involvement with CMN-how they can get more involved and what they can do better," she said.
CANADIAN INVOLVEMENT
The RE/MAX and CMN relationship got its start in Canada, where RE/MAX is the leading real estate organization. A strong commitment from all three regions continues, making RE/MAX the largest CMN sponsor in Canada.
In October RE/MAX of Western Canada hosted the Canadian RE/MAX Conference in Banff, Alberta, featuring CMN in the opening ceremonies. Trevor Lindsay, a patient at Alberta Children's Hospital in Calgary, shared his story and thanked associates for their generosity. In Quebec City, during the RE/MAX International Broker Owner and Managers conference, RE/MAX founder, Dave Liniger, literally gave the shirt off his back to CMN. Actually he auctioned off the RE/MAX Ballooning shirt he was wearing to Pierre Titley, regional director of RE/MAX Quebec, for $6,000! The contribution will benefit Quebec's Operation Enfant Soleil.
While still young in years, RE/MAX International is mature in experience and in its commitment to community involvement through CMN. And with 52,000 dedicated, caring professionals throughout the world, it's easy to see why RE/MAX is "above the crowd."

CHILDREN'S MIRACLE NETWORK
This mission of the Children's Miracle Network is to generate funds and awareness programs for the benefit of children served by its associated hospitals.
The Children's Miracle Network broadcast is an international 21-hour television fundraiser which benefits 160 hospitals for children in the United States and Canada. Broadcast by 200 television stations, the CMN broadcast has the potential to reach 97-million households. With the support of corporate sponsors, generous viewers and other CMN-related activities, the broadcast has become the largest fundraiser of its kind. Since 1983, over $917 million dollars has been raised, more than $133 million from 1995 efforts alone and over $25 million of that in Canada.
WHERE DOES THE MONEY GO?
One hundred per cent (%100) of the money raised stays in your community to benefit the associated CMN hospitals for children in that area.
MEMBER HOSPITALS AND FOUNDATION
The associated hospital for children and/or its foundation in an area which is affiliated with CMN is the sole recipient of all funds generated from CMN efforts in that area. CMN hospitals treat all diseases that affect our children.
CMN DIRECTORS (CD'S)
CD's are employees of the local CMN member hospital/foundation. They oversee all aspects of CMN and the CMN broadcast at the local level - from production to sponsor coordination to special events to station liason.
